Dawn moon over the Caledon expanse

I’m excited to share with you my recent work “Dawn moon over the Caledon expanse” I created this painting over five Saturdays and it is the 2nd in a new series exploring the beyond in us all. New worlds, unexpected voyages, mysterious revelations, new friendships and quiet moments of joy on reflection of the wonders of our universe.

A warm pink glow lit up the early morning. In the strange green turquoise sky the huge pale moon rose above the horizon.

As Mia looked out at it in awe she marvelled at how impossibly close it seemed, almost seeming to touch the outer atmosphere of Carillon, the world she now stood apon.

After her swim to the surface of a crimson alien sea, and seeing the marvel of this strange new world, her family had arrived in a research vessel unlike any she had seen in her life.

She and her friend Rayna had stepped on board the vessel Antiles, a sleek ship resembling a barracuda in shape and length, her bough floating above the waves on razor thin pontoons as she moved smoothly across the ocean’s surface.

She had watched with wonder as mum and dad had shown her the impressive research lab which covered two thirds of the middle deck of the 700m vessel.

They explained that she and Rayna would be part of the research team tasked with a search for the rare element which had yielded remarkable results in generating power in their trials.

And as they arrived at the tall mushroom shaped facility which rose up from the depths of the Caledon expanse, she exchanged an excited brief smile with Ray as they anticipated their next adventure together.
